Meet our Team

Matt Swain graduated from UCLA, worked as a copy editor for Sage Publications, got his teaching credential from San Francisco State University, and has taught English since 1995 in public high schools in California and in a private, Kaplan-owned boarding school in China. He has worked as an examiner for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), developed by Cambridge University, and is certified as an International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) qualified instructor. Matt enjoys teaching Chinese as an enrichment course, running the local mountain and river trails, tending his 30+ houseplants, and comparing life experiences with his wife and two daughters. He and his family live in Placerville.
