Annual Fund Letter from The Board Chair, Sean Colgan

Dear GHS Parents,

The Annual Giving Fund is Golden Hills School’s main event for charitable giving each year. Through this event, we are able to continue to fund the growth in curriculum and programs for our children. As we have shared already, we are proud of the significant increase in participation last year, and we expect to build on that growth in 2013-2014.

The school is working on diversifying its fundraising base to include more outside sources for funding. It is important to demonstrate to potential donors that our parents, faculty and staff, and board members all support the school’s fundraising effort. The faculty, staff and board are already at 100% contribution for this year, and each family who contributes pushes us closer to our goal of 100% participation for the GHS community, which is the norm established by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) for independent schools like GHS.

To encourage and highlight school-wide participation, every grade that reaches 100% participation will win a Free Dress Day! Watch for the new Annual Fund signage outside the school in the coming days to see how each class is doing!

Consider making a donation to this year’s Annual Giving Fund. Donations in any amount are appreciated and help us to our goal of 100% participation. Remember that you can return your pledge card now and defer payment until later in the year if you prefer. Of course all gifts are 100% tax deductible, so please consider donating before the end of the year to take advantage of the tax benefits of giving. It is easy to pledge and contribute in any of the following ways:

      -        Return your pledge card and/or gift in the enclosed reply envelope via mail or drop-off at GHS.

            -        Make your pledge now by clicking on the "donate" button below.

            -        Spread out your contribution throughout the school year by adding an amount to your monthly tuition payment. You can coordinate this with Lynn Lagomarsino in the front office or just add your desired amount to each check.

-           -        Find out if your company has a charitable match program or participates in the United Way program.

Dear GHS Community,

The start of the Annual Fund Drive is an inspiring time for every independent school. This yearly event is here again and I want to thank Margaret Parenti for leading our efforts this year as the Annual Fund Chair. Margaret is a wonderful GHS advocate and we are fortunate to have her and her family as members of this community.

The Annual Fund is one of the three most critical fundraising events of the year. It is an opportunity to demonstrate that coming together with a common purpose is what makes this school successful and our community strong. As you know, tuition does not cover the entire cost of educating your child and your Annual Fund contributions last year allowed us to maintain the high quality of the education at GHS. In addition, we were able to implement specific program improvements such as the new Language Arts program in JK and K, the new Middle School Math program and the new computer cart with 30 tablets serving all grades to support technology integration. I am deeply grateful for your generous participation which made this progress possible and allows us to enrich the lives of your children every day.

As we celebrate 20 years of Goloden Hills School this year, I join Margaret in thanking every member of the Board, staff and faculty for their leadership, and in asking each of you to participate in realizing our goal of 100% parent participation.

Dear Golden Hills School Family,

As parents, we invest precious resources in our independent school tuition and care deeply about the educational experiences of our sons and daughters. This year, we celebrate 20 years of Golden Hills School!  I’m Margaret Parenti, your Annual Fund Chair. This is our third year in the Golden Hills School Family. Our daughter, Serena, is in 7th grade.

It seems like yesterday that Serena started Pre-K, full of hopes and dreams for an enriching education and positive experiences. Our dream was for a school family that worked together to build up each child in character, academics and citizenship. We have found that at GHS. Serena has blossomed in who she is as a person, and who she is as a student. She harbors such a love for her Golden Hills School Family. It is so heartwarming for us.

As with every independent school, needs exist beyond those covered by tuition. Our Annual Fund is directed towards enhancing and enriching the educational programs for each and every student. Every dollar given lifts our students to the next level. Your support is crucial.

I invite you to join with me in contributing to our Annual Fund. Parent participation in the Annual Fund has come a long way, and your past support is greatly appreciated. Two years ago, parent participation was at 33%, and last year at 67%. This year our goal is 100%!  I know we can do it in tribute to our 20th Anniversary!  We already have 100% participation from our fine and dedicated faculty and administrative staff, as well as 100% participation from the members of our Board of Trustees. Please join them in the success of the Annual Fund.

Your participation is important, no matter the amount. It shows prospective parents how much we as current parents believe in the GHS experience. And as our development efforts grow, foundations, business and community donors feel that they are giving to a winning team of educators and parents who believe in and support the school’s mission.

It is our coming together as a family in community and shared purpose that makes GHS a great institution of superior education. You will be forever happy for our children as they carry the GHS experience with them for life.
