Mr. Cleveland Ancient, Medieval & US History
2010/2011
Dear Students (& Parents):
Please be sure to have the items listed below for the first day of my class, so that you will be better prepared for daily assignments; many of these items will be required for your other classes, e.g. student planner, thus you do not have to buy a special item just for my class. Being organized is one of the most important life skills that I can teach you.
- 3 ring binder (either a separate one -3" for History, or the case version where the student creates a specific area for History).
- Spiral Notebook - THIS IS MANDATORY for each student's "History Journal" - needed for the first day of class!
- MAP - This is optional, but it would be nice to have a laminated map (8"x11") as indicated below. Check Target/Walmart or a small office supply store as I didn't find any online at Staples or Office Depot
- Ancient & Medieval History: World Map
- 8th Graders: US Map
- GHS Student Planner (assignments and earned points should be kept here.
- Pens: Black and Navy Blue ONLY
- #2 Pencils ONLY
- Lined paper
- Ruler (small is okay) there are ones that have holes that can be secured in the rings of the binder)
- 3 hole punch that fits in the binder
- Binder Tabs that separate each section within the binder (e.g. "Notes" section, "Syllabus", "Map" section, "Returned Work/Tests" section, "Vocabulary" section etc.)
- Highlighter (Very Important Item): Color doesn't matter
- Pencil bag or box: Something in which to hold all of the writing utensils/daily supplies
- Small Stapler - to fit in item #12 above (bag/box)
- Colored markers/pencils, glitter glue/art supplies (these are optional but very handy)
NOTE: If your student does not use a "GHS Planner", then they should keep an "assignment log" and "Grade Tracking Sheet". Both of these forms available at anytime for no charge from Mr. Cleveland. |
