Philosophy
The
overriding philosophy of the
Golden
Hills
School
athletic program is to offer the students an exploratory sports program
involving as many students as possible.
All participants are encouraged to do their best within the
spirit and rules of the games and practices.
Good sportsmanship, playing for fun, team work, and respect for
oneself and others will be emphasized throughout each sport. Play with heart.
Win with class.
Lose with dignity.

Uniforms
If you still have

GHS uniforms from any sport please turn it in at your earliest
convenience. I am especially looking for any basketball shorts or

SPRING 2008 ATHLETICS SCHEDULE
Track
Practice Days: April 7, 8,

Meets: Thursday, April 17th,

(league trials), Friday, May 16th (league finals)
Golf
Golf is conducted at Empire Ranch Golf Course in
Folsom. The focus of this sport is developing golf fundamentals on
the practice range and the practice putting green. Each child
should have access to a few clubs and a putter. You don’t need to
have golf balls. I will need some parent
volunteers to help marshal the groups and even help lead the
instruction.
Practice Days:*
K-2 group: Mondays 3:30 to
4:30 / April 21st, April 28th, May 5th, May 12th:
3-8 group:
Thursdays 3:30 to 4:30 / April 24th, May 1st, May
8th, May 15th.
*There will be a
putting tournament and BBQ dinner as well on Tuesday, May 20th as an
"end of season" party.
Little Dribblers
Little Dribblers, like golf, focuses on developing basketball
fundamentals. Practices take place here at GHS in the gym. This is
open to kindergarten to 3rd graders. I need a few parents to
conduct this program. I will have a few 8th grade students to help
as well.
Practice Days:
Little Dribblers will meet 2 days a week, Mondays and Thursdays,
beginning Monday, April 14th and concluding Thursday, May 8th.
Dates include: April 14th, 17th, 21st, 24th, 28th, May 1st,
5th, 8th

 A mandatory Parent Meeting will be held after the 1st

Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. unless there is a Meet
(schedule below). Practices are held at GHS outside.

Cost: $75
due on or before the first day of practice (checks made payable to
Golden Hills School Athletics). Turn in registration form with check
for sports fee and uniform deposit.

Uniform: Shorts
and top distributed by the coach one week prior to the first game (if
the $25 deposit has been submitted). Deposit will be returned when
the washed uniform (both pieces) is returned to Mr. Kauppinen.
